ChurchWorks was birthed from a grassroots movement to provide training to ministry workers who rarely have the opportunity professional development
Founder: Marilyn Hiebert is the Director of Administration at the BC Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches. Marilyn’s background is in corporate and church finance. During her time as a church Administrator at Bakerview MB Church she discovered very few training resources or opportunities for church staff. She decided to change this dilema and ChurchWorks was the result. As a member of the NACBA (National Association of Church Business Administrators) and current president of the Fraser Valley chapter, Marilyn has passionately taken up the call to provide ministry workers with the best training possible right here in the Lower Mainland.
“I’ve traveled to training conferences all over North America and I was convinced that we have enough expertise in our area to meet the huge need at home. Ministry workers, not just pastors, want to grow professionally and I’m glad to be a part of encouraging the hardworking staff and volunteers of the local church”.
Event Co-Planner:Kelly Rader is on staff at BCMB and brings experience in event and conference planning. Kelly enjoys administration and looks forward to this year’s ChurchWorks event.
“I am so glad to be part of an organization that values educating and resourcing administrators, boards, church staff and not-for profit staff. I started and ran a charity for 10 years and found few resources and education available. I wish I had heard about ChurchWorks back then. It would have given me tools I needed.”
